Pre-Toddler

Pre-Toddler Program

The first three years of life are the most critical in shaping a child’s development and long-term potential. During this time, an infant’s physical and cognitive growth is unparalleled—by the age of three, 80% of the brain is already formed. At Kaizen Early Years our Pre-Toddler program is intentionally designed to nurture this vital phase through a dynamic range of sensory-rich activities. These experiences are crafted to ignite natural curiosity and support holistic development—social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language, and creative—ensuring that each child thrives at their own pace.

Social & Emotional Development

At Kaizen, we know that a gentle, well-supported transition from home to school lays the foundation for joyful, lifelong learning. Our nurturing and hygienic environment is filled with caring, consistent educators who create a sense of safety and belonging—critical elements in helping young children form secure attachments and emotional resilience.
We offer a thoughtfully planned transition and settling-in process that supports both child and parent, with routines designed to build comfort and confidence. As children grow more familiar with the setting and their facilitators, we introduce meaningful opportunities to foster independence, self-confidence, and emotional intelligence.
Our mixed-age setting further supports social learning, peer modeling, and a seamless transition into our Toddler program when each child is developmentally ready.

Physical Development

The Pre-Toddler years are marked by rapid physical growth, and at Kaizen, we embrace this through a carefully prepared environment that promotes both fine and gross motor development. Our spacious, natural learning spaces—featuring elements like sandpits, toddler-friendly climbing structures, grassy mounds, and balance paths—offer children opportunities to strengthen coordination, movement, and spatial awareness.

Cognitive Development

At Kaizen, we nurture the developing mind by creating opportunities for children to explore, wonder, and make sense of the world around them. During these years, children begin to observe patterns, solve problems, and process new experiences.
Activities like cause-and-effect exploration (e.g., rolling balls, popping bubbles), simple puzzles, and sensory-based tasks help lay the foundation for logical thinking, memory, and decision-making. Following Montessori, STEAM based and Play based practices, we honour each child’s rhythm—offering space and time to repeat, reflect, and master skills independently.

Language Development

Few milestones bring as much joy as a child’s first words. At Kaizen, we cultivate a language-rich environment that supports emerging communication through meaningful interactions, storytelling, song, and sensory play.
As children engage with their surroundings, they absorb new sounds, words, and expressions—developing listening skills, comprehension, and verbal confidence. Simultaneously, our focus on fine motor development—such as grasping, stacking, and drawing—lays the groundwork for future writing skills through improved hand control and coordination.

Creative Development

At Kaizen, we prepare children not just for the world that is—but for the one that is yet to come. We encourage free expression, experimentation, and imaginative thinking through open-ended experiences in art, music, dance, and movement.
Whether it’s painting with fingers, exploring musical instruments, or storytelling through dramatic play, children are encouraged to explore their creativity, make choices, and solve problems—skills that are essential in a world of constant innovation and change.
